TOLFA (Rome)
LONG PATH - 3+ YEARS OF EXPERIENCE
A workshop to practice and investigate improvisation from impulses and listening to the body and to invent scenes with its “texts”: Movement, gesture, posture, look, spatial composition, tone, energy, actions, physical and emotional impulses, breathing and body state. We will count on real space as a point of support and inspiration to create and compose dramatically interesting images. A space in which we can move, appear and disappear, have real physical support, play with distances and different heights, and where the characters can move organically and play the bonds and impulses that connect them. The relationship with play and dramaturgical construction will be based on improvisa-tions in which we see human behaviour. To do this, we will train the relationship with the other: Acting for the other, for our scene partner. To provoke transformations in the other actor and his character and for the other to modify me. Seek complicity with others to find the honesty of the game. Space and our choices on stage will mix with chance to build the overall story that the audience will be more aware of than we are, and we will practice taking off the pres-sure of wanting to build everything.
We will discover the life of a square in the city and its imagined inhabitants. We will at-tend some of their dates, their farewells or meetings, some everyday moments that could be banal but build their daily life and beings or other moments that could change the course of their lives. The public will go to see them in this square, whose real balconies, doors and windows will be the dynamic stage of this improvised show in which some casual crossings write the story.
