LONG PATH - 3+ YEARS OF EXPERIENCE
As improv performers, our body is the tool, that we always have with us. We send it (filled with ideas, words, and stories) onto the stage, we open our mouths, and dialogues, monologues, heated debates, and deep discussions emerge. But what happens when we keep our mouths shut, rely only on our body, and decide to forget about language for a while? In this workshop we will focus on telling stories only with the body. We will engage in physical dialogues and try telling monologues without using any words at all. Using tools from Pantomime and Clowning techniques, we will experiment with what our bodies are physically able to do and discover what images, emotions, spaces, characters, and stories we can create- Let’s explore and try it out together!
In this emotional and musical performance, bodies emerge and merge from and in the space, creating characters, moments, and pictures.
In “Silence… Please!”, there is no need for words.
Using only the body’s language, the ensemble creates entire worlds, in the moment, right before your very eyes. Join these talented performers in a beautiful, poetic, and funny dive into the unknown space of Silence… Please!
Anne Rab lived and worked as an actor, director, and theatre educator for 12 years in Leipzig, Germany. She is part of the leading team for ‘Momenta’, the international festival for improvisation in Leipzig, and is a long-standing member of the Theaterturbine. Her interest for improvisation started over 15 years ago in an ensemble of clowns that made up stories without words, and this work drives and fascinates her to this day: exploring non-verbal improvisation and teaching bodywork to actors, improvisers, and anyone that wants to discover and learn.
